Add the washed and sliced muscadines, 1 cup of sugar, and 1 cup of water to a medium saucepan.
1 ½ cups (220g) Muscadines, 1 cup (200g) Sugar, 1 cup Water
Set the pan over medium heat and cook for about 11 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has fully dissolved and the muscadines begin to soften and release their juices. Remove from heat. Using a spoon or potato masher, gently mash the muscadines to extract more flavor. Start slowly and carefully as the syrup will be hot. Let the mixture sit for another 5 to 10 to allow it to thicken slightly.
Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean bottle or jar. Press on the solids to get as much liquid out as possible.
Cool & Store: Let syrup cool completely at room temperature. Store in a glass container with lid in the refrigerator.
