As always this isn’t a sponsored post. Its just our two true loves coming together food and travel.
* V stands for entirely Vegan
* G stands for entirely Gluten-free
* VF stands for Vegan-friendly: businesses that have vegan-friendly options for vegan guests to enjoy.
* GF stands for Gluten-free-friendly: businesses that have gluten-free-friendly options for gluten-free guests to enjoy.
We always do a lot of research before we travel to make sure we have access to vegan gluten-free foods that are: good, affordable and hopefully uncovering new to us vegan gluten-free products. So sit back and enjoy some drool worthy food that we really enjoyed and think you will too.
For our latest trip to the Big Apple, mask mandates are in full effect and a lot of places are still on take out and delivery only mode. So, the full dining in experience wasn’t there, but we were somewhat prepared for that and just meant we ate in the park or our hotel room sometimes.

9. Riverdel Cheese (V/GF) - Essex Market Brooklyn, New York
Technically not a restaurant but a faux-mage cheese shop. You can’t come to New York and miss an opportunity to shop at this plant-based cheese shop. We tried the following cheeses:
- The Aged White - it is creamy with a slight tang like ricotta.
- The Aged Spicy - heat is mild at the end but the first bite is more like a really good cheddar. Perfect for charcuterie board.
- Rosemary Olive Reine - you can really taste olives - great to make little cocktail balls for martini.
- Bloody Mary CamBlue cheese - a rind cheese. A French styled bleu cashew cheese. A little too salty for us but lots of flavor too.
And the great news they ship: www.riverdelcheese.com

10. Kalustyan’s (VF/GF) - 123 Lexington Avenue
A wonderful specialty store with a huge selection of dried herbs, spices, peppers. An amazing variety of sweets, grains and flours, sugars and treats. Vegan Gluten-free products.

Orchard Grocer (V/GF) is an all vegan shop and deli. MooShoos is an all vegan shoe store.
Bonus Tip

12. Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods Market - Lots of locations across Manhattan
We always like to know the closest grocery stores to pack snacks and find new products that may not be sold in our area.
Must haves: cheaper bottles of water, snacks and if you just what to spend some time in your hotel room chilling or are just exhausted; lunch/dinner is always an option with plenty of vegan gluten-free items at Trader Joe’s (list here) and Whole Foods.
