What Are Vegan Chicken Filets?
SWAP is a vegan chicken substitute. A plant-based meat substitute to replace traditional animal based chicken. Vegan chicken filets are made from a range of ingredients like: soy protein or vital wheat gluten and pea protein. For the prepackaged varieties like SWAP Food's plant based Chicken, the main ingredient is soy protein.
Product Ingredients

These vegan chicken filets are high in protein, have no cholesterol and are non- GMO.
Ingredients: Water, Soy Protein Isolate, Sunflower Oil, Natural Flavors, Yeast Extract, Pea Protein Flour, Citric Acid, Salt. Contains: Soy
Cost
The cost for 1 package (20 count) was $59.00 plus shipping & handling. Shipping was a lot but we purchased a lot of other items including vegan chocolate KitKat candy, Bee-Mindful Honey and Violife Heavy Whipping Cream and with cold storage packing and expedited shipping was $60.00 a lot but worth it to us.

Cooking How They Hold Up
They are very easy to cook. Unthaw from freezer like any meat or meat substitute. So far, we baked once and then mostly made recipes on the stove top in a skillet. With a little oil in a non-stick pan on low to medium heat to slowly cook them . We haven't had any issues with them sticking to the pan. They cook evenly and really take on the flavors of the seasoning and or sauce we put them in.
Packaging
Shipped from the manufacturer in insulated dry ice filled containers. If thawed, store them in the refrigerator at +40° F - +46° F. Or you can freeze them for up to 3 months.
The plastic package in our opinion is good for freezer storage. As you get closer to the three month mark be careful to use to avoid them getting freezer burn.

Review
We have had a lot of the many different plant based chicken substitutes that you can find in stores. They have been made from many ingredients, from soy based and vital wheat gluten to mushroom based. We have enjoyed several but SWAP Food's Plant Based Chicken Filets is one of our favorites so far. Uncooked out of the bag, it has a visual texture that's similar to a chicken breast. A single serving is a good size, similar to a standard chicken breast. Once cooked or baked; searing it in a neutral oil gives it a a wonderful golden coating.
Taste: Without seasoning, the SWAP Food plant based chicken filets have a natural flavoring similar to that of a good vegetable broth. They can be seasoned, cooked and baked the same as chicken. With seasoning, you really get the chicken like taste.
Texture: They are moist and tender with a really good texture and mouth feel and not at all chewy or tough, like some plant based chicken.
