According to World Health Organization there are concerns about carcinogens in red meats that may increase cancer risk. However, some plant-based products contain fillers and added sodium and may be high in saturated fats. The nutritional content of both meats and plant-based substitutes varies depending on the specific product a person chooses, read your nutritional labels to make the best personal choice.
Beyond Steak is meant to resemble chopped-up pieces of steak. It’s meant to be cooked from frozen, as indicated on the prep instructions on the back of the packaging. But will it look, taste and cook like beef?
Taste - it's tender, juicy & delicious and would go well in your favorite meals such as fajitas, quesadillas, stir fries or salads
Texture - is meat like but if it contained more of the fatty bits and less of the lean meat parts. There's a little bit of a chewy, gristle feel to the pieces like we remember from real meat.
Recommendation - This is a terrific vegan meat substitute. Great for vegans or anyone trying to eat less meat. It taste great and adds a lot of flexibility in the recipes you can prepare.
We’ll continue to test this in as many recipes as we can but yes; we recommend giving it a try. We want to revisit this meat substitute because they do reformulate products occasionally.
